PRAYER WARRIORS     Prayer with an Attitude of Gratitude!

When you pray do you have faith that God will answer your prayers? Scripture instructs us that we need to trust that God will answer our prayers.

In order to receive an answer to our prayers we are instructed that we have faith that God wants to give us the desire of our hearts. He loves us and wants us to trust in Him. It is the desire of His heart for us to have faith. In the New Testament, Jesus says over and over again, "just believe me..." He says it to Mary and Martha when their brother Lazarus died; he said it to the disciples when he fed the five thousand; he encouraged those who came to him for healing that their faith had healed them.

In fact, we are commanded by Jesus to believe that he will answer our prayers. In Mark 11:22-24, when the disciples saw what had happened to the fig tree after Jesus cursed it, he encouraged them; "Have faith in God," Jesus answered. "I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it and it will be yours."

Have an "attitude of gratitude"

So do you ever doubt that God will answer your prayers? Do what Jesus did. When Jesus told Martha and the other people present at Lazarus' tomb to take away the stone, Martha protested because she didn't believe that Jesus would be able to raise Lazarus from the dead. But Jesus said; "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?" Then he gave thanks to God,"Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me."

In everything, Jesus gave thanks. Paul tells us, in Philippians 4:6; "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. If you are still besieged by doubts that God will answer your prayer, give thanks to Him in advance! Keep thanking him and you will receive from God eventually. Giving thanks to God before receiving the answer to your prayer will ultimately result in glory being given to God. And that's what it's all about. Give glory to God!

So what is Resurrection Church? We are a community of people trying to Imagine No Religion... Just Jesus. We imagine a place where we aren't bogged down with rites and rituals. We imagine a place where we don't have to pretend that we have it all together. We imagine a place where we live out of LOVE, and not obligation . This is Resurrection Church, a place where people are learning to live as Jesus taught... To love God and love Each other. We get together every Sunday morning at 10:00 AM at the Visual Performing Arts Center for worship, connection, community, and coffee. BLESSINGS AT THE HARBOR

What a blessing worship service was this morning. For any who missed this morning the leadership team presented to the congregation the end result of our discernment process seeking the Fathers will and our obedience to His voice and call. That of course being that He has really been blessing His Church.

To that end we announced that effective next Sunday November 1, 2009 that we will be moving our worship location from Shell Hall to the 13 million dollar state of the art Visual Performance Arts Center at Hilton Head High School. As unbelievable as it is we actually are going to lower our monthly rent from that which we contracted with Shell Hall.

In addition to this new location we also announced a name change for the Harbor. We will now be Resurrection Christian Community Church. Our tag will be No Religion...Just Jesus. To that end we have rebuilt our logo, web site and are beginning an ad campaign which headlines Imagine No Religion Just Jesus.

Press Release Summary: Resurrection Christian Community Church will be holding their first service in their new location ( The Visual Performance Arts Center at Hilton Head High School) this upcoming Sunday, November 1 at 10:00 am.

“We're looking forward to serving the Hilton Head and Bluffton communities,”says Senior Pastor Len Stubbs. 

All wanting to experience Jesus are encouraged to visit and meet the staff, ministry volunteers and the rest of the Resurrection Church community during this celebration service where Pastor Stubbs will begin a new teaching series titled  "Is Jesus In the House?"

 

Our focus at Resurrection Christian Community Church is to offer a safe and welcoming community of worshiper's joined together to experience the privilege of a personal encounter and intimate relationship with Jesus in a casual, comfortable and contemporary environment.

Philippians 4:19 (New International Version)¹⁹And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

John 6:10-12 (New International Version) ¹⁰Jesus said, "Have the people sit down." There was plenty of grass in that place, and the men sat down, about five thousand of them. ¹¹Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish.

Jesus is going somewhere and that somewhere is right into the lives of people and He has called on each of us and is counting on us to be His hands and His healing touch on their lives. He commands us to love Him and to love all of His children, and the love language of Jesus is Service. Serving others is how we reflect our love to Jesus and His love to the world. We are all commissioned to be His care givers while He cures all.

Clear Minded Prayer

1 Peter 4:7- The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray.

What does this scripture say to us about what the Father finds most important? Instead of allowing selfish concerns to control our thinking and determine our behavior Peter tells us to begin with GOD and let Him set the agenda. We are called to grow in spiritual love and unity despite the condition of the world around us.
Peter’s word “be clear minded and self-controlled” speak directly to our Christian focus. Our Christ-centeredness. The opposite of “clear minded” is“confused”.“Self controlled” means orderly, not confused; organized, not chaotic; planned, not haphazard.

Peter  speaks to order and organization. It’s important in today's hectic lifestyle that we demonstrate both focus and perspective. This means surrendering control to the Father and obediently following His will. We need to be conscious that all belongs to GOD. We need to be with Him and seek His heart in prayer. 

As is always the case with the Father this order and organization has a purpose. The purpose of clear mindedness and self-control is explicitly stated:

“so that you can pray.”
“be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray.”

Prayer is more important not less important when there is much to do. Prayer is both the secret of strength and the key to perseverance. Prayer brings you closer to Jesus, the heart of the Christian experience. It aids and blesses those you pray for.

Equally important is that  prayer is all-important in discerning God’s will and purpose for its future.

How are we to pray more effectively? Peter teaches us to be clear-minded: thinking/evaluating situations maturely despite fears and anxieties which require each of us to avoid hasty or prejudiced judgments.

 

The good news is that we can be confident that God has an exciting future for each of us.With this in mind it is our obligation to discover it. The best way to discover it is not to try to work it out for yourself, but to ask HIM.

Consider making PRAYER a priority today!

⁹God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.

 

This weeks message is on Experiencing Jesus .......As you begin your relationship, it’s imperative that you enter into God’s presence through worship and prayer. Just like with earthly relationships, you must spend time together. It’s the only way to know each other. The closer you draw to Jesus and learn His heart, the more beauty you'll see…and the deeper your love will grow. Jesus thru the Holy spirit  will actually enter your heart, settle down and be at home there. So if you hunger for an intimate, vital relationship with your Heavenly Father, begin to worship Him.
